    CHILD LIFE PROTECTION. The supervision of foster children and the homes of foster mothers was carried out by the woman sanitary inspector. During the period 39 visits were paid by her to child life protection cases. The work for the period is shown below

    MAYFIELD CONVALESCENT HOME. This Home for ailing children aged 2 to 5 years was opened by the Council on 2nd June, 1939. It has accommodation for 15 toddlers, whose average length of stay was 23.5 days. The number of admissions to the Home each year since 1939 is shown below

    EFFINGHAM HOUSE COPTHORNE. During the early months of the year the Council continued to send mothers and children and old people in need of rest and change of air to Effingham House for a short stay. The number of admissions were as follows :-
