    Usually, the birth-rate of Mayfair is less than that of Hanover Square; in 1876, however, not only was the reverse the case, but that of Hanover Square was much lower than it was in 1875, while that of Mayfair was much higher, that of Belgravia remaining nearly the same, thus:—
