The Health Visitors collectively made 672 attendances at these
Clinics.
St. Francis Hostel. Although no recognised Clinic is held at this
Hostel (which accommodates women and children), Dr. Hill attends
fortnightly and gives advice to those mothers desirous of having their
children examined.
(b) Maternity Clinics. These are conducted at the Health Centre,
Harton Street. During the year, the service provided was reviewed.
It was decided, amongst other things, to make provision for a more
complete co-operation between Doctors and Midwives and the Antenatal
Clinic. This was effected by the issue of a report by the Maternity
and Child Welfare Officer, Dr. Hill, to the Doctor or Midwife sending
the patient, the report dealing with the conditions found as a result of
her preliminary examination. The Obstetrical Attendant was asked, in
return, to inform Dr. Hill of any untoward effects resulting from the
confinement.
In view of the importance of ascertaining and dealing with any
post-natal condition, one of the four maternity sessions is now more or
less set aside for this branch of the work.
