In these wards t ho women of the Borough are able to have their
babies under ideal conditions; they also receive beforehand the
advantages of systematic medical supervision, and before discharge
to their own homes they are medically examined for the purpose of
discovering any after effects of confinement requiring treatment.
The number of application forms received and considered by
the appropriate Committee for admission to the Wards was 372.
Patients who accepted the Committee's terms for a bed and were
confined during the year numbered
The distribution of these patients in groups showing the reasons
why admission to the Wards was sought appears in the following
summary:—

This Council pays the London County Council under the terms
of the agreement the sum of nine shillings per day for each occupied
bed, and as a matter of general interest particulars of the patients'
contribution towards the cost of the treatment provided is given
