Poor Law Relief.—The sum expended in outdoor relief in the
District in 1925 was £1,512 18s. od.
(2) General Provision of Health Services in the Area.
Hospitals Provided or Subsidised by the Local Authority or the
County Council.—Hospitals for Tuberculosis and Smallpox are available for
the District under the schemes of the Surrey County Council.
The Isolation Hospital, Hook Road, Epsom, belonging to the Epsom
Urban District Council, provides for cases of Scarlet Fever, Diphtheria,
and Enteric Fever. It comprises a Ward Block, with two wards of six
beds each, a second Block, consisting of four small wards of ten beds in all,
an Administrative Block, Laundry, Disinfector, Mortuary, and Ambulance
Shed.
The Epsom and Ewell Cottage Hospital, Alexandra Road, provides
for general medical and surgical cases.
