Institutional Provision for Unmarried Mothers, Etc.—The Mothers'
Hostel, Worple Road, Epsom, accommodates 16 mothers with their infants;
5 beds are retained by the Surrey County Council and 6 by the Hampshire
County Council.
The Epsom Branch of the Dr. Barnardo's Homes, East Street, Epsom,
provides for 80 homeless boys.
Ambulance Facilities.—Cases of infectious disease are removed to the
Isolation Hospital in the Horse Ambulance belonging to the District Council.
A motor ambulance provided by the Order of St. John and British Bed
Cross Society is stationed at the Woodcote Motor Co., Ltd., South Street.

Public Health Officers.—Medical Officer of Health, Dr. J. Williamson,
M.D. (Lond.), D P.H., whole time, combined district; salary contribution
made.
Sanitary Inspector, Mr. W. H. Martin, A.R.S.I., A.I.S.E.; whole time;
salary contribution made; is also Inspector under the Petroleum Acts and
the Celluloid and Cinematograph Films Act, 1922.
Veterinary Inspector, Mr. F. W. Chamberlain, M.R.C.V.S. ; part time.
Professional Nursing in the Home.— The Epsom District Nursing
Association maintains two nurses for general nursing. There is no special
provision for infectious cases.
Midwives.—The Surrey County Council make a grant of two shillings
and sixpence to the Nursing Association for each maternity case attended
by the two nurses.
There are 4 midwives practising in the District.
