Pelham Road. This promotes a very complete co-ordination of
the services.
(b) No Nursery Schools have been established in Wimbledon.
(c) Children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years are
visited twice a year by the Health Visitors. Debilitated children
are visited more frequently. The Maternity and Child Welfare
Committee have made arrangements whereby debilitated children
requiring convalescent treatment can be sent to recognised
convalescent institutions.
RE-ORGANISATION.
The re-organisation which was carried out in the School
Medical Department during 1930 was further consolidated during
the year under review. The routine medical record cards, which
are now kept in the office, were carefully checked with all the
school registers in order to ascertain that every child had a
medical record card and was being examined regularly in the
correct age group. The advantage of centralising the records
became increasingly apparent. All the medical cards of each
school are kept in alphabetical order; this allows of easy and
rapid reference.
Re-examination cards were made out for all children found
to be defective at the routine medical inspection. This has
greatly simplified the following up of these cases.
After the completion of each routine medical inspection, a
form was sent to the Head Teacher of the school, containing
the recommendations of the School Medical Inspector concerning
children found to be suffering from defects.
The simplification which was effected in 1930 in the record
cards of children examined as special cases at the Health Centre
was found to work very satisfactorily. Further improvements
were also made in the organisation of the Eye Clinic.
The School Medical Service in Relation to Public
Elementary Schools.
3. SCHOOL HYGIENE.
The sanitary condition of the Public Elementary Schools in
Wimbledon is very satisfactory. During 1931 painting at the
following schools was carried out by the Borough Surveyor's
Department:—
Cottenham Park Mixed—Internal painting.
Dundonald Road—External painting.
Modern and hygienic drinking fountains with a main water
supply were installed in the playgrounds of the following
schools:—
