The patients were admitted to the Home from the following'
wards :—
Cranbrook 27
Park 35
Seven Kings 17
North Hainault 19
Loxford 29
Clementswood 34
South Hainault 27
Three patients were admitted from outside the district on the
recommendation of the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee.
At the end of the year 53 cases were booked for future
admission to the Home.
The average number of patients in the Home per day during
1924 was 7'62, and the average length of stay of patients l4.39
days.
Of the 191 cases admitted during 1924, 188 were confined in
the Home, one was admitted as a case of inevitable abortion, one
as incomplete abortion, and one as a case for “ induction ” of
labour.
Of the 188 confinements, 50 women had engaged their own
doctor, 14 of these were, however, delivered by a midwife, the
doctor not being present at the birth. 138 were attended by one
of the midwives at the Home.
It was necessary to call in a doctor in 53 of the latter cases, owing to the following complications :—
