There are seven wholesale dealers in milk. Of these, one
is also a retailer. One of the seven has no cows on the premises;
the remaining six have cowsheds.
Licenses were granted under the Milk (Special Designations)
Order, 1922, during 1924, for the sale of:—
"Certified" milk 7
"Grade A" milk 16
"Grade A (tuberculin tested)" milk 5
"Pasteurised" milk 6
The above include supplementary licenses which were issued
for "Certified" milk 4, "Grade A" milk 5, "Grade A (tuberculin
tested)" milk 5, and "Pasteurised'' milk 6. These are
licences granted to firms who already have a license from another
Authority, the milk being bottled outside the town but sold in
Ilford.
2. Meat.
(a) Slaughterhouses.—There is now only one licensed
slaughterhouse in the district. 63 inspections were carried out
during the year.

The following byelaws were adopted by the Council for the
humane slaughtering of animals. They were approved by the
Ministry of Health on 3rd December, 1924, and came into force
on the same day:—
BYELAWS made by the LTrban District Council of Ilford with
respect to slaughter-houses in the Urban District of Ilford.
1. From and after the date of the confirmation of these
byelaws, the following byelaws shall be added to and construed
as one with the series of byelaws with respect to slaughterhouses
which was made by the Urban District Council of Ilford
on the tenth day of April, 1906, and which was confirmed by
the Local Government Board on the seventh day of June, 1906.
