DEATHS.
The number of parishionera dying during the year was 2,860, as compared with
2,466 in 1894, 3,146 in 1893, 2,828 in 1892, and 3,042 in 1891.
The deaths were distributed thus:—

The corrected death-rate was 23.43 per 1,000 inhabitants, being 0.61 above the
average for the past 10 years, as compared with a London death-rate of 19.8. In the
following table the death-rates of London and Shoreditch, are set forth for the years
1885-1894 inclusive.

The mean death-rate of Shoreditch for the ten years ending 1894 was 22.82 as
compared with 20.73 for the whole of London.
In Table XXIX (see Appendix) an analysis and comparison of the death-rates of
London and Shoreditch, with its sub-districts, is shown for the year ending 31st
December, 1895.
The death-rate was above the mean for the past 10 years from the second week
in February to the second week in April. The highest point reached was in the
second week in March, when the deaths numbered 102, and the death-rate was 43.4
per 1,000, or nearly double the mean annual death-rate. It was below the mean
from the third week in April until the first week in July, it then rose again above the
mean until the first week in August. It was again above the mean during the last
