(a) Custard tart contained numerous specks and particles of dirt. Baker
warned.
(b) Sliced bread contained part of dressing. Bakers prosecuted and fined
£25 and costs.
(c) Bread contained much cereal starch, vegetable fibres and fat and some
indeterminate black material. Baker warned.
(d) Cake mix contained numerous mites. Stock withdrawn. Further
sample satisfactory.
(e) Pink salmon described as Red Salmon on label. Consignment
exhausted at time of investigation.
(f) Figs contained 360 mites to the pound. Stock withdrawn. Further
samples satisfactory.
(g) Luncheon Meat—Fat 16%, lean 33%. Total meat 49%. Standard
of defunct Meat Products Order 80%. Manufacturers informed.
(h) Milk bottle containing small particles of dirt. Company warned.
(i) Milk bottle containing numerous particles of sandy grit. Company
warned.
(j) Milk bottle containing small gelatinous foreign body. Company
warned.
(k) Milk bottle containing deposit of nature of cement. Warning sent to
Dairy concerned.
(m) Apricot Jam. Fruit approximately 25%. Should not be less than
40%. Further sample satisfactory.
(n) Pork sausages contained 60%. Slightly deficient. No legal standard.
Manufacturers informed.
(1) Milk bottle with coating of very fine black particles and deposit of
black angular fragments. Probably coal dust. Referred to Local
Authority in whose area bottling took place.
