HOUSING ACT, 1949.
During the year 65 applications for improvement grants under
the Housing Act 1949 were received. Thirty-one of these have been
approved, involving a total cost of works of £8,849 one half of which
will be paid by way of grant. Twenty-five applications are still
under consideration.
The majority of applications are in respect of the provision of
bathrooms and hot water systems where none exist.
CERTIFICATES OF DISREPAIR.
Applications for Certificates of Disrepair under the Housing
Repairs and Rents Act 1954, were few, only eleven being issued
during the year. One of these was revoked, together with one of the
Certificates issued in 1954.
New Houses.
During the course of the year 329 houses and 42 new flats were
erected.
