HOUSING.
HOUSING REPAIRS AND RENTS ACT, 1954.
(i) Routine Inspections:
Five hundred and five visits were made to premises in connection
with the Housing Acts. The Survey under the Housing Repairs
and Rents Act, 1954, commenced in the preceding year involved
a review of some 824 premises. Having regard to Section 9 of
the Act, 30 properties were considered ripe for demolition or
closure and the Minister was notified accordingly. In due
course, the programme received approval and it is intended to deal
with these premises in the course of the next three years. This
will entail the rehousing of displaced persons.
(ii) Clearance Areas:
No Clearance Areas were declared during the year.
(iii) Individually Unfit Houses:
No houses were closed during the year.
(iv) Demolition Orders:
No orders were made.

(v) Overcrowding:

The position at the 31st December, with regard to statutory overcrowding, as defined in the Housing Act, 1936, is as shown in the following table:—
