Voluntary Notification ot Phthisis.—Only 55 cases were notified
voluntarily by members of the medical profession, of which 33 occurred in their
private practice as medical practitioners, and 22 in connection with their official
positions in public institutions, such as the City Road Chest Hospital and the
Brompton Hospital. Two of the Relieving Officers also notified cases of the
disease, which, however, came within the Poor Law regulations.
