(14) In Islington the Poor Law Administration cost in 1910-11, exclusive
of Notification Fees, £203,810.
(15) In Islington the amount paid in Fees for Hospital accommodation for
the prevention of Infectious Diseases averages £40,000 per annum, equal to
515d. in the £ rateable value.
(16) The cost of pauperism due to Tuberculous Diseases is estimated at
one-seventh the total. On this basis, therefore, the cost in Islington last year
would be £29,115, equal to about 3.8d. in the £ rateable value.
(17) The estimated value of an adult human life is £300 to £400.
(18) In Friendly Societies, consumptive patients who die cost three times
more than the patients who die from all causes, namely: £21 as against £7.
(19) In New York the estimated loss in money through deaths from Consumption
has been reckoned at £4,600,000 per annum.
(20) In London on the same basis it would be £3,000,000 per annum.
