of an old underground bakehouse was refused.
Certification of Food for Export.—As Certifying Officer for the City of
Westminster for all meat foods prepared or packed for export to several
foreign States, I have granted 186 certificates during 1911, 86 for the
United States, 19 for the Philippine Islands, 70 for the Argentine,
and 11 for Venezuela.

Milkshops.—At the end of 1910, 372 names of persons selling milk
were upon the register. In 1911, 28 names were removed and 38
added, leaving 382 on the register at the end of the year; 18 of these
were registered in respect of new premises ; 11 are street vendors having
no address in the City. Ten persons selling milk were given notice
to register, 6 complied and 4 discontinued its sale except in tea or
coffee. The Council refused to register in 2 instances.
Eight hundred and ninety-nine visits were paid during the year,
besides those by the two Inspectors taking samples under the Food and
Drugs Act. Notices requiring improvement of existing conditions were
served in a number of instances; no proceedings had to be taken against
any milk seller on this account, but 2 were cautioned on account of
their premises not being kept clean. In 6 instances dealers were
required to remove from their shop articles likely to contaminate the
milk.
