    Causes of, and Ages at, Death during the Year, 1947. It will be noted with satisfaction that no child, in fact no person, lost their life as the result of diphtheria. The Council's campaign to increase diphtheria immunisation obviously must have played a part here. Typhoid fever also did not claim a death, but this is undoubtedly due to London's excellent water supply and to modern sanitation and hygiene.
