antigen therapy. Of these treatments, 336 and 672 respectively were
effected by general practitioners.
Malaria
During the year under review three cases of malaria were notified
compared with two in 1969.
In each case the disease was contracted abroad, the patients
being admitted to hospital for treatment.
No fatalities were recorded.
Infective Jaundice
Persons notified as having infective jaundice during the year
totalled 28 compared with 20 in 1969.
Six patients were admitted into hospital but there were no
recorded deaths.
Leprosy
No case was recorded during the current year a situation similar
to that of the previous year.
Tuberculosis
There were 41 notifications received during the year and of
these, 37 were of the pulmonary type and 4 non-pulmonary, i.e.
tuberculosis of parts of the body other than the lungs. From
sources other than formal notification there were 7 cases, 6
pulmonary and one non-pulmonary, all derived from the death
returns. In 1969 there were 39 pulmonary and 8 non-pulmonary
cases notified.
Although not always essential, disinfection was offered and
carried out in respect of 13 premises during which 15 rooms and
210 articles were disinfected.
During 1970, some 2,472 Greenwich school children and students
received B.C.G. vaccination under the direction of School Medical
Officers. A further 158 contacts were also vaccinated.
