CHEST CLINIC REPORTS
Greenwich Chest Clinic
I am indebted to Drs. P. Forgacs and D. G. Wraith, Consultant
Physicians at the Greenwich Chest Clinic, for the following Report:
"There were 16 new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis notified
during the year. This includes 11 males, of whom 7 were over
45 years, and five females of whom two were over the age of 45.
One male was transferred in from another Chest Clinic.
In the course of the year there was a total of 6,172 attendances
at the Clinic of whom 4,897 were X-rayed. Of these 434 were
referred to the Clinic for the first time and the remainder, which
included various chest conditions such as healed pulmonary
tuberculosis, asthma, bronchitis and carcinoma were being kept
under continued follow-up supervision.
Because they had been in contact with a tuberculous patient
109 persons were examined but none were found to have
tuberculous disease. Of these contacts 58 were given B.C.G.
innoculation.
Some 29 children were referred to us because they were found
to have positive tuberculin tests at school but none of these had
evidence of tuberculous disease. They are, however, being kept
under supervision for a time.
Supportive and financial help was given to many patients as
before."
Woolwich and Brook Chest Clinics
I am also indebted to Dr. A. MacManus, Consultant Physician
at the Woolwich and Brook Chest Clinics for the following Report:

"There was little change in the pattern of Chest Clinic work during 1970. Twenty-six new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were notified during the year.
