In reference to the subject of infant mortality, progress has
been made in dealing with this problem by the appointment of a
well qualified health visitor. Further reference is made to the work
of this officer in another part of my report. The preventive
measures detailed in my report for the year 1909, applicable to
pulmonary tuberculosis, have been continued during 1910. As
previously explained, they have but a limited effect in diminishing
the prevalence of this disease in the Borough. Further steps
should now be taken, amongst which the establishment of a tuberculosis
dispensary in Hackney occupies the first place. Such an
