Report on the sanitary condition of the Hackney District for the year 1910

during 1909. The mortality rate for the former year is, therefore,
.14 per 1,000 living, and for all London .14 per 1,000 living.
Chickenpox.—One death was attributed to this cause during
1910.
Diarrhoea.—This disease was the cause of 47 deaths, 39 of
which occurred under the age of 5 years. This shows a decline of
27 upon the number registered during 1909. There were also 29
deaths ascribed to enteritis, 20 of which occurred in children under
the age of 5 years. The annual mortality rate for 1910 is, therefore,
.2 per 1,000 living, that for all London being .28 per 1,000 living.

Measles.—There were 62 deaths in the Borough during 1910 due
to this cause, 60 of which were in children under 5 years of age.
The total number is an increase of 6 upon the number of deaths
during 1909. The mortality rate for 1910 is .26 per 1,000, and that
for all London for the same period is .41 per 1,000 living.
