but the circumstances raise doubts whether an unsuspecting
purchaser, asking for butter, might not
have been served from the sameāas a matter of fact
a sample of "butter" purchased subsequently from
one of these vendors proved to consist entirely of
margarine.
In two cases genuine milk was purchased from
shops in which were hung notices to the effect that
the milk sold there was not guaranteed.
