    Bacteriological Examinations. —Bacteriological examinations are carried out at the Pathological Department of the St. John's Hospital, Lewisham. Full use of this service is made by the medical practitioners in the Borough, and during the year, 2,786 specimens were examined, the details being as follows : —

    Disinfection and Personal Cleansing. The Disinfecting Station is situated at Wearside Road, Lewisham. Details of the work carried out during the year are contained in the following tables : —

    The collection of house and trade refuse is carried out by the Borough Surveyor 's Department, a weekly collection being the rule. The tonnage collected in 1936 is shown below.
