SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
Refuse Removal and Disposal.
The collection of house and trade refuse is carried out by the Borough Surveyor 's Department, a weekly collection being the
rule. The tonnage collected in 1936 is shown below.

The main portion of the refuse is disposed of at the Destructors situated at Molesworth Street, Lewisham, and Home Park, Sydenham, the remainder being sent away by barges or deposited on shoots in the Borough. The following are the figures for 1936 : —

The figures for disposal include trade refuse delivered by tradesmen
to the Council's dust destructors, and refuse collected from the
