The 398 premises :—
184 are dairies
192 for sale of milk in containers as received
18 for consumption on premises
4 for depots (for sale of milk on rounds in bottles)
†From the 184 dairies, 42 sell milk on the round.
The sale of milk in containers as received is steadily increasing, in
place of the old-fashioned method of selling loose milk from a counter
pan or other receptacle.
MILK (SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS) ORDER.
1 Dairy is licensed to pasteurise milk. 2 Dairies are licensed to
bottle Grade A (TT) milk.
5 samples of graded milk and 11 samples of ordinary milk were
procured for bacteriological examination.
2 of the graded milks did not comply with the requirements of the
Special Designation Order, 1923. Letters were sent to the Dairymen
concerned. All the said samples were free from Tubercle Bacilli.
Practically the whole of the ordinary milk sold in this Borough, is passed
through the pasteurising process.
