Circular letters were sent to the proprietors of the different
workshops who carried on the class of trade specified in the Secretary
of State's Orders respecting outworkers, calling attention to the
provisions of the Act requiring lists of persons employed as outworkers
to be kept, and copies sent twice a year to the Local
Authority.
The bakehouses on the Register number 24, of which 20 are
above ground and 4 below. These have all been frequently
inspected, and the statutory requirements, such as periodical limewashing,
enforced.
Until the end of 1903 there were 6 underground bakehouses in
use in the District, 4 of which prior to January 1st, 1904 carried out the
following alterations, certificates being granted to the occupiers
under Section 101 of the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901.
