INFANT MORTALITY.
Out of the 28 registered deaths of infants under 12 months
of age, 16, or nearly 57 per cent., were due to such causes as
premature births (7), malformations (2), inefficient expansion
of lungs (1), and atropy, debility and marasmus (6).
The question of appointing a Health Visitor for the District
was considered by the Public Health Committee and by the
Council, and it was decided not to make any appointment, at
any rate for the present.
Mainly owing to the favourable weather conditions pre
vailing during the Summer, only 3 deaths were recorded as
being- due to diarrhceal diseases.
