During the year a summons was issued under this Order. Details are
given on pages 48 and 49.
61 licences under this Order were issued during the year, being 7 more
than the previous year.

In February I received information that imported butter was being sold Merchandise
in bulk by a firm in this Borough and not marked in accordance with the Marks Act.
Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) No. 1 Order, 1932. I made inquiries
into the matter and the wholesaler was duly cautioned.
934 inspections were made to butchers' shops and 501 to butchers' stalls
in the Borough. 35 notices were served for minor infringements of the Meat
Regulations.
74 premises were registered whereon Ice Cream is manufactured, stored
or sold, and 2 applications for registration were refused.
465 inspections were made and 26 notices were served.
There are 7 Butter and Margarine factories and 45 premises used by
Wholesale Dealers in Margarine on the Register. 14 inspections were carried
out during the year.
447 inspections were made to the bakehouses in the Borough, and 305
cleansings were carried out.
35 certificates have been issued respecting the export of consignments
of food products prepared within the Borough:—
1 to South America. 3 to Canada.
8 to Germany. 14 to the United States of America.
4 to Italy. 2 to Egypt.
2 to Syria. 1 to Australia.
1,149 inspections were made at the various wharves in the Borough.
