holes are a valuable means of inspecting the sewers, and are largely
used for cleansing the same; in fact, without them the sewers
could not be kept in such a clean and sanitary state as they
now are.
In addition to the above, eight small manholes were constructed
adjoining some of the new flushing tanks; these also act
as ventilators to the sewers.
I still continue the construction of the flushing tanks almost
entirely of concrete.
NEW STREETS.
The new streets which were paved and formed (or are in course of paving), under the 105th section of the Metropolis Local Management Act, during the year, are as follows :—
