The lighting was extended from the "Chandos Arms"
public house in Brockley Lane to the boundary of Lewisham
Parish with St. Paul's, Deptford. Ten dry meter lamps were
erected in Lewisham in place of the old ones, to test the quantity
of gas consumed.
The actual cost of the Lighting in Lewisham for the year was
£4,280 0s. 2d., and in the Hamlet of Penge £1,188 13s. 1d.
KERBING AND CHANNELLING.
The following footpaths and roads were kerbed and channelled,
granite being used in Lewisham and Purbeck kerb and
Rag stone channelling in Penge.
Lewisham.
From the Post Office, Forest Hill, to the end of the shops
on the northern side of London Road, a portion being old
materials re-laid; a short length at the corner of Westwood Park
and Peckham Road; Lewisham Bridge and the approaches to
the same; Spring Cottage, Hither Green Lane, to the corner of
Ryecroft Road; a short length of kerb laid near the "Brockley
Jack" public house, Brockley Lane; from the junction of Brockley
Lane with Stanstead Lane to the end of the houses near
Codrington Road, and from Stanstead Lane to Lowther Hill;
from the junction of Forest Yale with Perry Yale to the corner
of West Road; from opposite Westbourne Road, Perry Yale, to
Wynell Road, and the northern side of West Hill from the Longton
to the top of the hill. A new cabstand was laid near Forest
Hill Station, and crossings at the junctions of Lewisham Hill
and Eliot Park, and Lewisham Hiil and Camden Row.
Penge.
South side of Hamlet Road, Belvedere Road, from Hamlet
Road to Anerley Crescent; East side of Belvedere Road, from
the Ferns to Church Road; Tudor Road, south side; portion of
Palace Road; Anerley Yale, re-laid; Brunswick Place, additional
kerb set, &c.; Jasmine Grove, north side; Hawthorne Grove,
north side; Woodbine Grove, north side; Laurel Grove, north
side; Oakfield Road, south side; Dulwich Road, from opposite
the Stoneyard to Police Station; Dulwich Road, from the "Railway
1 avern" to Thicket Road; Dulwich Road, north side, from
Croydon Road to boundary with Beckenham. Circular corners
