The mortality tables appended (Table No. V., p. 8), give
a detailed account of the cause of death, and the different
ages at which disease was fatal in the district.
From these tables it may be perceived that 100 persons
died from zymotic disease, of whom
1 died from Smallpox.

70 „ Scarlet Fever.
8 „ Diptheria.
1 „ Croup.
14 „ Whooping Cough.
17 „ Fever.
4 „ Remittent Fever.
1 „ Relapsing Fever.
3 „ Erysipelas.
3 „ Influenza.
48 „ Diarrhœa.
4 „ Pyœmia.
4 ,, Rheumatic Fever.
142 persons died from constitutional disease, of whom
21 died of Cancer.
85 „ Consumption of the lungs.
26 „ Other tubercular diseases.
337 persons died of local disease, of whom
116 died of diseases affecting the brain and nervous
system.
55 „ diseases affecting the heart and circulation.
112 „ diseases affecting the lungs.
35 ,, diseases affecting the digestive organs.
12 „ diseases affecting the urinary organs.
5 ,, diseases affecting the organs of generation.
121 persons died of developmental diseases, of whom
73 deaths occurred amongst infants.

10 persons died violent deaths.
