HIGHWAYS, NEW WORKS, AND
IMPROVEMENTS.
General Repairs.—'.The various Roads and Streets in the
Inner and Outer Wards have been from time to time carefully.
attended to by the staff employed by the Vestry, and repaired
with materials most requisite and applicable to the localities of
such repairs.
Watering and Cleansing.—The performance of these
Works have been carried out by contract. There are now 49

miles of Roads watered throughout the Parish.
New Works and Improvements.—The following Works
have been carried out during the past year :—
Clapham Road.—New Purbeck kerb, the footpaths
re.constructed throughout, and faced with fine Uxbridge gravel.
Brixton Hill, from the Church to the Boundary at Mill
Lane. New Purbeck kerb, the footpaths re.constructed, and faced
with fine Croydon gravel.
Lyham Road.—In accordance with the arrangements
entered into with the Wandsworth District Board of Works, and
the Inhabitants, this Road has been entirely reformed, made
throughout with material of the best quality, and regular and
proper levels maintained. The footpaths made up, and faced
with fine Croydon gravel, and in fronts of the houses new
Purbeck kerb has been laid.
Hatch Row, Roupell Street.—New 12.in. x 6.in.
Devon kerb, and footway paved with new 2½.in. York, and the
carriage.way re.constructed and coated with Kentish flints: two.
thirds of the expense of this work was paid for by the proprietors
of the property.
Belvedere Crescent and Vine Street.—.New 12.in.
X 6.in. Guernsey granite kerb, the footways taken up and re.laid
