Table VI. exhibits the results of an examination of twenty
samples of flour obtained in different parts of the Parish, mostly
in the poorer neighbourhoods. These experiments were made
especially with a view to the detection of alum, but in no one
specimen could the presence of that salt be recognised. No. 7
contained a trace of some aluminous earth, probably accidental.
