results at which I have arrived, and for comparison
the actual facts determined at the Census-takings of
1871 and 1881.

Of the above estimates of the population for the
middle of 1880 there is no doubt that the last is the
most accurate. It is curious and interesting to
observe how wide of the mark the first estimate
(that based on former experience) turns out to be.
