CLASS I.—SPECIFIC FEBRILE OR ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
The total number of deaths referred to this class of diseases was
506; of winch 388 were those of young children under five years of
age. Amongst these 114 occurred during the first year of life.
Forty-seven were from Diarrhœa, and 26 from Measles.
Below are the numbers of births, deaths, and marriages for the ten years, 1871 to 1880, the table also shews the excess of the births over the deaths in the ten years, and the increase in the population between the censuses of 1871 and 1881.
