CHILD LIFE PROTECTION.
At the commencement of the year there were 41 registered
foster mothers in the Borough who had in their care 53 children.
At the end of the year there remained only 25 foster mothers having
the'care of 29 children.
There were three instances in 1940 in which it was necessary
to address warning letters to women who had failed to give notice
to the Council of their intention to take charge of children for
reward. Two deaths of foster children were reported. Coroner's
inquests were not held in these cases.
