The deaths in London annually from scarlet fever to 100,000 persons
living, were in the 10 years 1851—60, 94; in the 8 years 1801—68, 94;
and in the 43 weeks ending October 8th, 1869, the deaths from scarlet
fever were in the proportion of 152 to 100,000. In the Whitechapel District,
the deaths from scarlct fever during the same periods, were respectively
90, 107, and 247.
