The cancer death rates for the last ten years were as follows:-

Respiratory Diseases. Influenza was prevalent in 1937,
and in accordance with previous experience, this was accompanied
by a higher mortality from respiratory diseases.
Influenza was responsible for 16 deaths against 10 in the
year before and 3 in 1935, whilst the respiratory diseases,
excluding influenza, caused 51 deaths as compared with 39 in
the year before.
The death rate for the respiratory diseases accordingly
rises from 0.6 per 1,000 population to 0.8.
