CAUSES OF DEATH.
Heart Disease. The number of persons dying of heart
disease was 95, which is the greatest number attributable to
any single cause, and the death rate for this disease was 1.5
per 1,000 of the population, the same as in the year before.
Of the total, 76, representing 80%, were over 55 years of
age. There were no deaths under 25 years of age.
Cancer. Cancer deaths increased by 19 to 93, of which
42 were males and 51 females. This gives a death rate for
cancer of 1.4 per 1,000 population, compared with 1.21 in 1936.
