Veterinary Inspectors, Mr. G. M. Vincent, M.R.C.V.S., and Mr. N. S.
King, M.R.C.V.S.; part time; no contribution made.
Mr. Wooldridge has charge of the Eastern District, and Mr. Pratley of
the Western District. Each is provided with a clerk, and, at the beginning
of the period, Mr. Wallace was acting as Assistant in both Districts. From
time to time I drew attention to the fact that the large amount of work in
connection with new buildings rendered it impossible to carry out systematic
inspections, and early in 1924 the District Council appointed Mr. Gale as
Assistant for the Western District, and transferred Mr. Wallace entirely to
the Eastern District, and they also granted additional travelling facilities.
In May, 1925, I again reported that the staff was insufficient for the work,
and suggested that the duties of Sanitary Inspectors should be assigned to
officers appointed for that purpose alone. After due consideration, the
Council felt that there were difficulties in carrying out this suggestion, and
decided to appoint an additional well-qualified Assistant in each Division to
give his time wholly to the work of Inspector, and engaged Mr. Armstrong
and Mr. Jump, who commenced duties in December.
Professional Nursing in the Home.—General nursing in the District
is carried out by the nurses of the following Associations:—
Bookham and Fetcham Nursing Association.
Cobham Nursing Home.
Banstead District Nursing Association.
Cheam District Nursing Association.
Ewell District Nursing Association.
There are no arrangements for the nursing of cases of Measles or other
infectious diseases.
Midwives.—None of the midwives are employed or subsidised by
the District Council.
