Deaths
During the year 560 deaths were registered, of which 283
were males, and 277 were females, as compared with 588 deaths
last year.
The death rate for the year was equal to 8.5 per 1,000 of
the population, as compared with 9.1 per 1,000 in 1936.
The death rate for England and Wales was 12.4 per 1,000
for the year 1937, and 12.1 per 1,000 for 1936.
Senile Deaths.
The number of deaths of persons of 65 years of age and over
was 244, of which 111 were males and 133 females. This constitutes
43.5 per cent, of the total deaths, as compared with 44.5
per cent, last year.
