A doctor attends the Home every Friday and examines each
new patient. He attends at other times if necessary. Each
mother is weighed on arrival, at the end of each week, and when
she leaves. The babies are weighed frequently and test feeds are
given when necessary.
During the year thirteen mothers benefited by a stay at the
Home. All the mothers greatly improved in health and expressed
great satisfaction with the Home in every way, and with the
treatment and kindness they received while there.

The list of mothers with dates of their stay at the Home is shown in the following table, each mother being referred to by her reference letter.

Mrs. K. went to the Home alone, as her child was above the
age for admission. Mrs. O. was an ante-natal case. Mrs. P.
unfortunately developed a condition which necessitated a minor
operation. After consultation between the doctor who attends
the Home, the matron and myself, it was decided to remove her
to the Tunbridge Wells Hospital on November 9, where she
remained until November 17, when she was re-admitted to the
Convalescent Home, where she stayed until she was perfectly
rstored to health.
In two necessitous cases the railway fares were paid.
