CIVIL AMBULANCE SERVICE
This is the last full yearly report on the Ambulance
Service which I shall have the pleasure of presenting to the
Council. During the year 1947 the service operated satisfactorily.
The total number of calls reached 1866, Consideration of the full
daytime use of the two ambulances is now due, and is included in
the proposals of the Surrey County Council under the National
Health Service Act 1946, The staff under their Supervisor,
Mr. F. Nazer, have given excellent service, and I would express
my thanks to them for their constant loyalty and devotion to duty.

The number of calls and types of call in 1947 are here compared with the calls in 1946,

Of the 1806 calls, 542 were dealt with by the second
ambulance, and 117 by mutual support from other districts: 359
calls were from adjoining authorities and from hospitals outside
the Borough,
