(b) Disinfection and Disinfestation-

The disinfection of be ding and similar articles is done by the saturated steam process in a Washington-Lyons Disinfector; infected premises are sprayed with formalin and fumigated by burning formalin tablets.

(c) Laboratory Work-

The following specimens from Wanstead and Woodford were dealt with by the Counties Public Health Laboratories:-

(d) Tuberculosis-
Public Health (Prevention of Tuberculosis) Regulations,
1925, and the Public Health Act, 1936, section 172. No action was
necessary with regard to persons suffering from pulmonary
tuberculosis employed in the milk trade.
3. Tuberculosis.
Particulars of new cases of tuberculosis and mortality
from the disease during 1939
28 Pulmonary and 9 non-Pulmonary cases were notified
for the first time during the year.
14 cases were transferred into the district.
22 Pulmonary and 3 non-Pulmonary cases died during
the year.
5 deaths occurred from non-notified cases of
tuberculosis.
50 other cases were removed from the Register.
l8l cases remained on the Register at the close of
the year.
