SECTION F. PREVALENCE OF, AND CONTROL OVER, INFECTIOUS AND
OTHER DISEASES.
1. (a) Scarlet Fever-
Fifty-two cases were notified and no deaths occurred.
(b) Diphtheria-
Twenty-two cases were notified and no deaths occurred.
One hundred and twenty-two preventive inoculations
were given during the year.
(c) Puerperal Pyrexia-
Eight cases were notified. Six of these occurred in
the district, five of which were removed to hospital, and the other
two were notified from hospitals in the Metropolitan area. No
deaths occurred.
(d) Typhoid and Paratyphoid Fevers-
Two cases of Typhoid and one of Paratyphoid A were
notified.
(e) Dysentery-
Two cases notified, in both cases the Sonne bacillus
being found.
Particulars of the incidence of notifiable diseases
during 1938 and an analysis of the cases in age groups are
contained in the accompanying tables.
2. (a) Cancer-
Particulars with reference to the prevalence of this
disease are as follows:-
