The number of premises on which nuisances were outstanding
at the end of 1926 was 519. To these another 597 premises whereat
nuisances were recorded in 1927 were added, giving a total of
1116 premises. Of these 525 had the nuisances remedied, leaving
591 premises at which nuisances still existed at the end of the year.
During the year, nuisances at 15 houses were reported to the
Health Committee, which added to the 31 brought forward from
1926, made a total of 46. Before asking the authority to serve
statutory notices, the premises are inspected by the Medical Officer
of Health and Chief Sanitary Inspector. Statutory notices were
authorised and served in most of these cases, and by the end of the
year, the nuisances were remedied in 21. of the houses, and in one
case it was decided to take no further action, leaving 24 cases to be
carried forward to 1927.
