Scarlet Fever.—The total number of cases notified during
the year, was 165 from 133 houses. The attack rate, was 2.8 per thousand of the population.

There were no deaths.

The type of Scarlet Fever was extremely mild, many cases
presenting great difficulty in diagnosis.
In one house there were four cases, in six houses three
cases, in seventeen houses two cases, and in the remaining
109 houses, one case.
134 or 81 per cent. of the cases were treated in the
Borough Isolation Hospital, Gap Road.
69 per cent. of the cases notified were children of school
age, five to fifteen years, and of these, 108 attended the
following schools:—
