Regulations.
Regulations to be observed by Occupiers of
Bakehouses 20th March, 1887.
Regulations with respect to the Management
of Sanitary Conveniences provided and
maintained by the Local Authority 4th November, 1892.
Regulations with respect to Dairies, Cowsheds
and Milk Shops 23rd March, 1900.
Regulations pursuant to Libraries Act, 1892 28th May, 1909.
Regulations with respect to Allotments 3rd April, 1925.
8. Hospitals.—The Hospital services chiefly used by the
inhabitants of the area are the Connaught Hospital, Walthamstow,
a voluntary general hospital serving Walthamstow, Leyton and
Wanstead, and the Institutions formerly under the control of the
late West Ham Board of Guardians. Of these, the Central Home
and Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, Forest Gate Hospital,
E.7, and the Children's Convalescent Home, Margate, were transferred
to the County Borough of West Ham and the Children's Homes,
Aldersbrook, Wanstead, to the County Borough of East Ham on
the 1st April, 1930.
Public Assistance in Walthamstow is now provided by the SouthWest
Area Committee of the Essex County Council, which retains a
certain proportion of beds in each of the above Institutions.

Mr. Pegram, the Clerk to the Committee, has kindly supplied the following particulars of Walthamstow residents admitted to the various Institutions during the year ended the 31st March, 1931:—

(*These children were ultimately transferred to the Homes at
Aldersbrook.) 55 children were born to Walthamstow mothers in
Forest Gate Hospital.
The last ascertained number of patients from Walthamstow in
Mental Hospitals was 344.

Hospitals are given on page 74.
Brookfield Orthopaedic Hospital, a voluntary hospital in the
Borough, provides 30 beds, approximately 50 per cent. of which are
used by persons outside the town. There are facilities for operative
surgery, dental and massage treatment. The Staff consists of a
Matron, Sister and three Nurses.
