Whooping Cough Immunisation.
From 1st April, 1953, whooping cough immunisation was introduced
in the local health authority clinics and facilities were provided for the
free provision of pertussis vaccine to general practitioners.
It is not at this time the policy of the County Council to use a combined
diphtheria/pertussis vaccine and in order to avoid increasing the
number of immunisation sessions diphtheria and whooping cough prevention
clinics were combined.
Owing to the prevalence of polio-myelitis whooping cough immunisation
was suspended after 1st July and not recommenced until 20th October.
1953.
The following are the details of the number of children immunised against whooping cough at the three Ilford clinics held for this purpose together with records of such courses completed by general practitioners.
