(b) Ophthalmic Department.
During the year 1939 (period 1st January to 1st September),
the School Oculist held 135 sessions for the refraction of children
suffering from defective vision (95 at Valentines and 40 at Mayesbrook).
Full details of the work are given in Table IV, Group II,
on page 90.
1,558 attendances (1,092 at Valentines Clinic, 466 at Mayesbrook
Clinic) were made by 1,019 school children (691 at Valentines
Clinic, 328 at Mayesbrook Clinic), as compared with 1,332
school children in 1938.
